It will support a maximum capacity of 8 GB per tape at a data transfer rate of 1 MB/second using a DDS-2 format. This unit is externally mounted, in a stand alone cabinet, which accepts 120 VAC directly, none of those annoying little power cubes to clutter up three or four recepticles! This drive features high reliability, with a mean time between failures (MTBF) of 300,000 hours. That's a lot of backups! It also includes an integral head cleaner, so you won't have to fuss with cleaning tapes every other run. Tapes can also be had for bargain prices, with just a bit of searching about!

That's a real plus, too, as tapes can get expensive these days. Being an HP product, it is fully supported by all major operating systems, and will function with virtually all vendor software packages.
